Iran: Voters wear face masks at polling stations amid coronavirus fears

Large numbers of voters and staff members were seen wearing respiratory protective face masks at polling stations in Tehran as parliamentary elections were underway on Friday, after a total of five cases of the novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, have been confirmed in Iran so far.

On Thursday, Iranian authorities said two people from the city of Qom have died from the coronavirus with three new cases confirmed in Qom and Araq.

The latest report by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) says COVID-19 has claimed more than 2,200 lives and infected more than 76,000 people worldwide.
